Celebrate any Occasion with a Gift Sponsorship
Pet Sponsors play a critical role at BMHS. Several of the animals have special needs that require extensive care and rehabilitation. The Sponsorship Program allows supporters to contribute to the cost of food, shelter, and veterinary care for rescued pets from situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment on a one-time or ongoing monthly basis. These contributions directly support our mission, and we could not continue this vital work without you!
THE SIMPLE TRUTH
Rescuing abandoned, abused and homeless pets costs money
The adoption fees assist with medical expenses. To rescue a dog, our medical expenses costs:
- $11.75 for a rabies shot
- $25 for a distemper shot
- $14.50 for a kennel cough shot
- $150 – $210 to spay and neuter all shelter dogs.
What the adoption fee doesn’t include:
- Any special veterinary care such as surgery or medicine
- Does not cover any care expenses such as food, grooming, collars or leashes
- Doesn’t cover any shelter expenses such as heat, maintenance and repairs

Sponsorship Frequently Asked Questions
One-time and ongoing Sponsors will receive the same Sponsor Welcome Packet.
Ongoing Sponsors will be given the opportunity to schedule a private VIP tour to meet their sponsored pet with their family or 2 guests. Just call us to make an appointment at 605-745- SAVE (7283).
You can choose to cancel your ongoing sponsorship, or simply transfer it to another animal in need.
We offer Gift Sponsorship Welcome Packets which includes a black card for you to express your happy birthday, anniversary, or holiday message. On the card, you can let them know you have sponsored an pet in need in their name. Simply call us and we will get that out to you.
Gift sponsorship’s make a great gift for those people who have everything, like grandparents, or people who don’t have much room.
Sometimes when seniors leave their home to move into assisted living, they have to leave their dog behind in someone else’s care. This is a great way for them to still feel connected to a pet.
Some landlords will not let renter’s have pets. Gift sponsorship makes a great gift for children who would like a dog or cat, but are unable to have one at this time.
For your convenience, we offer Paypal so you can pay directly online with your Visa or MasterCard. There also is an option to set up recurring payments so your card is automatically charged every month.
